THE Early Days

The King family moved to rustic Malibu in 1951. It was the Wild West back then with fires, floods, mudslides and rattle snakes. Some things haven’t changed.

Marty’s dad was even paid extra money from his Aero Space Company when they moved to Malibu because Malibu was deemed “undesirable” because it was so remote. The local realtor gave away Cadillacs just to make a sale. How things have changed.

KEEPING IT LOCAL FROM THE START

In 1980, 21-year-old Marty helped charter the Malibu Kiwanis Club, and, for the next 20 years he helped produced the beloved Chili Cookoff and Carnival.  Marty was a two-term president and over those 20 years in the Kiwanis Club he helped raise over 3 million dollars that was redistributed to local charities.

A HEART FOR THIS COMMUNITY

Marty also helped build Cameron Park at the Point Dume Marine Science school and the Bluffs Park.

As a vice president and member of the Malibu Association of Contractors, Marty helped build the Boys and Girls Club at Malibu High School and Poets Park at Webster Elementary.

As a 20+ year L.A. County Sheriff Volunteer with the Malibu Arson Watch, Marty has patrolled our mountains, manned road blocks and fought fires for the good of his community.

In recent years Marty shared his time and talents to build the Our Lady of Malibu Art Center.
